City First Homes makes homeownership a reality

City First Homes helps low to moderate-income borrowers leave the cycle of renting and achieve stable, affordable homeownership. By supporting borrowers with necessary funds for down payment assistance, program participants can reduce monthly mortgage payments, avoid the added cost of mortgage insurance, and expand their purchasing power. We help make homeownership a reality for those who typically would not be able to realize this dream. As nonprofit lenders, we are guided by the values of transparency, equity, and responsibility.

City First Homes developed the Homes by CFE program as a Special Purpose Credit Program designed to benefit low to moderate-income African American / Black / and Hispanic / Latinx communities to increase homeownership in the nation’s capital. Innovative Solutions to Close the Homeownership Gap

City First Homes was created with seed funding from the D.C. government to expand homeownership opportunities in the District of Columbia. Our Legacy Shared Appreciation Program featured subsidized prices that put homeownership within reach for low- to moderate-income D.C. residents. Market conditions have since evolved, and borrowers have been seeking new solutions. CFH has responded with Homes by CFE, an innovative down payment assistance program that focuses on helping Black/African American and Hispanic/Latinx borrowers purchase homes and build home equity. Our commitment is the same — increasing homeownership in the nation’s capital.
